Knittle & Frey: A Williamsport Tradition Since 1947
Knittle & Frey has been a beloved cornerstone of the Williamsport community for generations. It all began in 1947 when founders Charlie Frey and John Knittle started mixing birdseed on the floor of their garage. Their dedication and hard work grew the business into the cherished store and feed mill that stands today.
Following their successful run, the business was sold to Ron Wenning, who left his own indelible mark on Knittle & Frey. Ron introduced and marketed the now-iconic Deer Krunch feed and BigHorn deer mineral—the original deer mineral of Pennsylvania. Both products remain staples of the store and continue to be made with the same commitment to quality.
Later, Ron passed the torch to his son Scott, who eventually sold the business to its current owners, Chad Livingston and Nik Kadenas, in 2021. Although neither Chad nor Nik had prior experience in this industry, they couldn’t resist the magic of Knittle & Frey. The smell of the mill and the nostalgic charm of the rustic store were enough to win them over.
Today, Knittle & Frey continues its legacy of producing top-quality products while offering the exceptional customer service you’ve come to expect. As one customer put it: “It feels like coming home.”
